Rhynchotechum obovatum - Obovate Rhynchotechum

Obovate Rhynchotechum is a shrub 1-10 ft tall, up to 0.5-1.5 cm in diameter. Flowers are white or greenish white to pale pink, upper lip with a brownish red to dark purple coloration at the base, 3-4.5 x 3-4.5 mm; upper petals 1-1.5 x 1-2 mm, tips rounded to blunt; lower lip 5-7 x 5-8 mm; lower petals 1.5-3 x 1-2.5 mm, tips blunt to rounded; tube 1.75-2 mm long. Flower-stalks 1-10 mm long, yellow-rusty silky/hairy to densely so. Sepal-cup green to light brown, sepals triangular with rounded or rarely slightly with a tail tips, 2-4 x 0.75-1.5 mm, densely yellow-rusty silky to rarely hairless. Flower cluster is green to light brown, 2.5-9 cm long, 3-5-branched; flower-cluster-stalk 0.8-3 cm long; axes densely yellow-rusty hairy; bracts linear tapering to slightly triangular. Leaves are opposite or whorled to rarely alternate lower down; leaf-stalks are 2.2-6 cm long; blade obovate or narrowly obovate to elliptic or narrowly elliptic, 10-25.5 x 4.7-8.1 cm, two to three times as long as wide, tip tapering to pointed, base narrowly wedge-shaped; margin finely toothed, the teeth up to 2 mm long; secondary vein pairs 13-24; above dark green, hairless to sparsely white velvet-hairy, below pale green, yellow-rusty woolly, denser on the veins.Obovate Rhynchotechum is found in India, Burma, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and China, at altitudes of 197-2120 m.
